The majority of Eagles fan's are sick of the duo of Reid and McNabb on not delivering them their first super bowl. It's been 11 years and the fans believe it's time for a new era. Kevin Kolb looks prepared and ready to take the helm as the starting QB of the birds. While Michael Vick is ready to change zip codes and assume a starting role, knowing he's not in the eagles plans for next year. But what now for the 6- time pro bowler ??? Do they stick with him going into the final year of his contract? Or do they go out and seek a trade? Where he still has value, in which there will be a cornucopia of teams willing to trade for his services.
Possible Suitors:
Oakland Raidiers:
If there's one thing I commend Owner Al Davis on, it's that he's not afraid to spend the money on a player if it's going to give him a better chance at winning. Like Jerry Jones money is never an issue with him (must be nice). If they landed McNabb, the Raiders would finally have a quarterback capable of running the vertical offense that owner Al Davis so famously cherishes. Oakland has an improving running game, a top-tier tight end in Zach Miller and some untapped receivers.
Minnesota Vikings:
Adjusting to a new environment wouldn't be an issue here. Not only would McNabb be paired with his former offensive coordinator, Vikings head coach Brad Childress, but also his former quarterbacks coach at Syracuse, Kevin Rogers, who holds the same position in Minnesota. The familiar scheme and staff would help ease McNabb's transition, and Adrian Peterson would provide the running-game support McNabb hasn't had in Philadelphia( Westbrook worked well in the open field).
Arizona Cardinals:
Now this is something I do not want to see go down. But after Kurt Warner announcing his retirement, The Cardinals need to explore every option before anointing , heisman trophy winner Matt Leinart the starting role. Because at this point and time, the best QB in the NFC West is 2005 # 1 Pick Alex Smith of the 49ers( shoootaahhhh). And after Bill Bidwell learned this year that he owned his Arizona Cardinals 363 days out of the year ( SF 49ers own them the other 2 days), you can be sure he won't be hesitant to pull the trigger on a blockbuster deal for McNabb.
San Francisco 49ers:
I'm sick and tired of losing and not making the playoffs. They have proven offensive weapons in running back Frank Gore and tight end Vernon Davis, and a future superstar in wideout Michael Crabtree. They have an improving defense and a fiery coach who knows how to maximize his team's talent. All that's missing is an upper-echelon quarterback. And Mcnabb is that man who would make them instant contenders.
Prediction: Eagles Management realizes that next year they are better off with McNabb next season than without. With him you're guaranteed to make the playoffs and contend for division championships, etc. That is if Andy Reid decides not to pass the ball 80% of the time.
But where ever he ends up next season, I just hope that Eagles fans realize and appreciate the fact that he got you to 5 NFC championships and 1 Super Bowl. And that with him under center the team has a great chance to win and that you always got his best effort.
